Which is better Coke or Pepsi?
NCIS or CSI?
Thai or Indian food?
For you Star Wars fans, which is better, the Force Awakens or A New Hope?
It’s good to have preferences. Life would be boring if we all enjoyed the same things.
Yet, I’m sure there have been times when you felt like Thai but you ate Indian. You washed it down with a Pepsi when you wanted a Coke, as you scratched your head and wondered what is the difference between A New Hope and The Force Awakens.
There are times when our preferences take second place.
Often our decision making in these times comes out of what is heavier or lighter, in other words what is more important or less important.
The ultimate example is Jesus, who when confronted with His imminent execution put aside His own preference and prayed submitting His will to His Father’s. Ultimately Jesus” concern for us and desire to save us was heavier for Him than His desire for safety or comfort.
What is heavier and lighter for you? What preference are you holding on to that you need to let go of, and what for you is worth holding on to?
