Back in 1997 the church now known as Mosaic – a Baptist Church started in the home of the then Senior Pastor Russell Hinds and his wife Kaye. Not before long the church was ready to hold public services, and in early 1998 the church began to operate from rented premises in Burleigh Waters, where we enjoyed a period of sustained growth.
In 2000 the church was able to acquire its current property at 120 Mudgeeraba Road Mudgeeraba. This site, formerly a 36 hectare dairy farm, was acquired in conjunction with Queensland Baptist Care with the view of both organisations being able to serve this community well into the future.
The Church’s portion of the property comprises 3 hectares, which is today includes our Auditorium, Training centre and Childcare centre, as well as our administration building. The Church Worship Centre was constructed as a three day “quick build” in late September 2001 by some 450 volunteers and tradespeople, and in many ways announced our arrival at Mudgeeraba.
After almost 14 years of great ministry at Mosaic (previously known as GCCF), Russell and Kaye finished in late 2010 to plant a new church on the Tweed Coast. In January 2011, David Godfrey joined our team as our new Senior Pastor with the intention of building on the past and looking to our future.
Both David, and Russell before him, would attest to the fact that the heart of Mosaic is not our facilities or the size of our campus, but it is a group of people who are committed to following Jesus and making him known through word and deed. Whilst the church has been phenomenally blessed over its short life, it is our belief, that under God the best is yet to come.
On the 18th September 2011 we entered into a new phase of in the life of Mosaic, referred to as Chapter 2. For more information on Chapter 2 click here to download our Chapter 2 booklet.
