I have been reflecting on Romans 12:1-2 over the last week in particular and I am reminded again of how often salvation and change are inverted. It is easy to fall into the trap that we need to live a certain way or display a certain set of behaviours before we are good enough before God. The reality is though that through Jesus we can have a right standing before God. Christ’s sacrifice is sufficient and His sacrifice alone. It is not our behaviour that makes us good enough or Christ plus our behaviour, it is Christ alone.
God continues to work in our lives following salvation and our thoughts and behaviours change as a result of His Spirit at work in our lives. Our behaviour is evidence of that change that Jesus has made in our lives. Our ongoing transformation continues through the Spirit’s work in our lives. The way we live our lives, should provide evidence of God at work in our lives. It is a process as seek to live more like Jesus and as we seek to shine God’s light wherever we go.
